Moms Monday: I know you are but what am I?

First, I want to thank everyone for reading, commenting on, following, and supporting this blog! It really means a lot to me and it has boosted my confidence in my writing and ability to network with others. I have learned so much just by interacting with you all here.

Have you read the about page here on the blog? If you’ve ever wondered who is the person writing this stuff? you can find some answers there, but I’ll also provide some answers here.

Me – Elise

You may have discovered this already, but I’m not a mom. Is that shocking? I hope not. I guess I should be flattered if you are shocked. You see I’m just shy of 20 and began writing this blog not because I think I’m some sort of parenting expert, but due to my collaboration with wallinspired.

Wallinspired has a great business going on Etsy and if you run a small, but growing business yourself, you can understand that managing every aspect of your business can be difficult, very difficult. So that’s where I come in. I also run an Etsy shop, Pieces of Elise’s (because my name is Elise – hi there!), and even though my shop is by no means flourishing just yet, I have learned a lot about marketing, social networking, and E-Commerce through the research I’ve done over the past 2 years.

I also write on Squidoo, Yahoo! Voices, and just started my own blog. Craig with wallinspired approached me to promote their shop through this blog, social networks, and elsewhere. If you’ve visited wallinspired‘s shop on Etsy, you probably noticed that their vinyl wall decals are for kids, tweens, and teens. So I’ve really focused my efforts on this blog to reach you, the parents of the kids, tweens, and teens, as well as anyone else who is interested.

I’d like to think that writing for this blog has been going pretty well and that you all are enjoying your time spent here. Would you like to give some feedback?

Click here to take survey and you will be added to a drawing where 1 winner will be chosen. The winner has the choice of getting a free advertising spot on the blog (a 150 x 150 image linking to their blog or website on the right over there –>),  a chance to write a guest blog post here on the wallinspired blog about a topic of their choice, or a free handmade item from my own Etsy shop Pieces of Elise’s. So please take the survey for a chance to win!!!

Saturday Sales: Get Ready to Take Flight

I work on the eighth floor of an office building and most of the time I’m tied to my chair at the receptionist desk. Even though I spend about 9 hours desk bound, it could be worse. I could be in a cubicle! Instead I think I have the best view in the office. There are 2 conference rooms, one on the east, which is closer called “Lakeside”, and one on the west called “The Boardroom”. Both conference rooms have huge windows on their exterior wall. From where I sit all I see are trees and sky. Well, not all. In Lakeside to the east I get to see the geese as the dive toward the lake or hawks swooping off of the roof. I love seeing that. I feel like I’m stealing a special look at nature that no one else gets to see. That inspired this treasury– take a look and see if you can spot the on sale wallinspired decal 🙂

Thursday Food for Thought: When Was the Last Time You Tried Something New?

Good morning!

I’m excited to start this day and I hope you are, too.

If you’re not, I’m sorry. Maybe asking yourself this question will help you explore the great potential each day offers us to learn, grow, and be happy.

When was the last time you tried something new? Do you remember?

Did you try eating at  a new restaurant? Or did you eat a fish taco for the first time? (I did a few weeks ago).

Did you listen to some music from an artist that you just recently discovered? Or did you try writing your own song?

Please share the new things you’ve tried recently and what you plan to try today!

Just comment below!

Sunday Funday – 3 Easy Ways to Get Ready for Baby

Are you expecting? (If you are please share the good news in the comment section 🙂 )

If you are, and you have some free time this Sunday, here are some things you can do to get ready for baby.

1. Design Custom Bedding for the Nursery

I love customizing things. So I got excited when I saw a post on Cool Mom Picks about Nursery Designer by Carousel Designs. It allows you to design your own baby bedding and preview it in front of the wall color of your nursery.

Warning: This may be addicting and you may spend your whole Sunday designing bedding if you’re not careful 😛

2. Set Up a Baby Registry

Have you set up a baby registry yet? If not, here’s a forum that can help you decide on the best place to go. It shows what othermoms are saying about the best places to get a registry.

If you already know where you want to go, jump in the car, bring your bestie, or your husband, or both, and start making that list! It’s fun to shop, especially when you don’t have to be the one to pay!

3. Get your Baby Scrapbook / Photo Album Ready

Scrapbooking 101 recommends that you don’t wait until after the baby arrives to start the scrapbook.

One mom was quoted as saying,

“The first double-page spread of my daughter’s baby book records the thoughts my husband and I had in anticipation of her arrival…how excited and nervous we were to become parents for the first time.”

You can even start tracking your changing shape, the site says, wearing the same outfit in each photo like a time lapse video.

Have you tried any of these tips? Or do you plan to? Please share in the comment section!

Featured items: kids tree branch decal from wallinspired, kanga boo shopping cart attachment from TheKangaBoo, and peel and stick scrapbook album frame from APregnancyStory.

Sunday Funday – Mila’s Daydreams

Hey there! How’s your weekend going?

I wanted to share with you an inspiring project a creative mom, Adele Enerson, came up with.

She had alittle baby, Mila, and one day when Mila was asleep Adele thought the position she was laying in made it look like she was a little fencer. The next day she came up with the idea of making a background behind her daughter as she sleeped, with things like sweaters and pillows, it would be her dreams illustrated.

So if you have a little one and you succeed in getting them to take a nap, why not try this out for yourself? It could be fun and it would be cute to put the photos in a scrap book 🙂

I think the Etsy Blog had a great post about Moms.

If you haven’t read it already, it’s a good read– especially if you’re a mom. If you aren’t, it can give you some ideas for gifts for moms you know, like your own 🙂
